Coffee Machine Water Filters

Espresso is 85-96% Water

Water filtration companies for years have been chanting “Espresso is 90-ish% Water”. Now, in a world where new varietal coffees from specialty roasters are becoming more popular, and equipment is becoming much more advanced and even more sensitive to issues of water quality, we’re finding more and more people interested to know “how does tap water really affect my coffee?” and “how can I protect my investment in my new coffee machine?’

Coffee Machine FIlters
Unfiltered water out of a tap, is a complex solution of chemicals, organics and minerals, with ranging pH and alkalinity characteristics. Poor quality water can impact espresso beverages in a number of ways:

  • Scale can cause poor pre-infusion and channeling through the puck, leading to under-extraction and thus a weak drink.
  • Reduced pressure due to scale buildup can lead to little or no crema.
  • Chlorine can alter both aroma and taste. It oxidizes aromatics and oils, increasing a beverage’s acidity.
  • Total dissolved solids (TDS) can cause poor extraction. Under-extraction leads to weak and sour drinks, while over-extraction leads to bitterness.

Everpure water filter for coffee machine

Scale Prevention (Phosphate) | 5 Micron Particulate Filtration | Taste and Odour Reduction

For areas where water hardness is not a major issue and you want great tasting coffee. These compact, affordable water filters reduce particulate down to 0.5 or 5 micron (see model), reduce chlorine taste and odour as well as feeding scale inhibitor to protect limescale build up in your coffee machine.

Everpure wall mount, water softening  for coffee machine

Water Softening | pH buffering | 5 Micron Particulate Filtration | Taste and Odour Reduction

For areas where water hardness causes machine scaling and damage. These resin based softening filters reduce carbonate hardness as well as buffer the water to balance the pH for great tasting coffee. The Everpure ESO series can be used as a single filter, or placed in a twin or triple manifold to feed multiple machines from a single filter system on the wall.

Everpure® ESO Softening Series

All-in-one Solution. 5 Micron Fibredyne™ Carbon Block, Softening, pH Buffering and blending.
  • Unique three stage blending cartridge provides softened/buffered/filtered water
  • Utilises ion exchange resin with buffering capabilities and high capacity coconut carbon filtration
  • Small amount of carbon filtered water bypasses softening resin to allow proper initial hardness
  • Buffering neutralises pH and prevents water from becoming too acidic.
  • Reduces hardness in water that can cause minerals to build-up in coffee and espresso equipment.
  • Reduces chlorine, off tastes and odours

Mounting Everpure filters into plumbing

Everpure Single Filter Heads and Manifolds

Single Filter Heads

Filter heads for 1 filter cartridge. QL1 has left to right horizonal inlet and outlet for compact underbench locations where height is at a premium. QL3B has left to right vertical inlet and outlet and features a built in water shutoff valve for filter changes. Both heads use a 3/8″F thread.

Multiple Filter Manifolds (Parallel)

Twin and triple manifold to utilise Everpure filters in parallel to increase the flow rate and capacity. Commonly used to feed high usage or multiple coffee machines from a single filter location on the wall. Just branch plumbing off after the filters system. Everpure Manifolds have 3/4″F Plumbing on the inlet and outlet

Claris under bench full water conditioning filters for coffee machines

Top tier filtration for premium water quality and equipment protection

Claris Ultra

The Everpure Claris Ultra is the world’s first filter cartridge family designed using a new, patent-pending water filtration and conditioning technology which effectively combines mineral reduction and corrosion protection within one compact unit. As a result, Claris Ultra helps you achieve the best quality brewed coffee, espresso and hot drinks in addition to helping make clear, hard ice cubes.

Benefits of Claris Ultra

  • Effectively prevents scale formation on boilers
  • Prevents corrosion of machine parts caused by aggressive water as well as depositing corrosion-induced metal complexes (ferrous iron, lead, copper, cadmium, mercury) on machine parts.
  • Avoids sudden pH drops from decarbonisation filters and maintains optimal pH levels for the best tasting, highest quality espresso.
  • Eliminates undesirable cloudiness, organic impurities and chlorine, off-taste and odor residues in the water (integrated activated carbon block filter).
  • Ensures the lowest operation costs, less machine downtime and repairs.
  • Prevents metal migration of particularly sensitive machine parts.
  • Provides a filter family with the widest capacity range.
  • Features a small footprint – ideal for use when space is at a premium.
  • Offers lower pressure drop and higher throughput.
  • The Everpure Claris Ultra’s flexible design makes it easy to use in different mounting positions – wall mounted, free-standing, horizontal or vertical positions.
  • The Claris Ultra is easy to install and easy to maintain with quick-change replacement cartridges.

Reverse Osmosis Systems

For high total dissolved solids, hard to manage water areas

EVERPURE® 75E RO SYSTEM FOR ESPRESSO EQUIPMENT

Traditional reverse osmosis provides high quality ingredient water, but typically these systems are oversized for espresso equipment, and many do not offer tailored blending for precise water recipes.

The Pentair Everpure 75E High Efficiency Reverse Osmosis System is a solution that brings the benefits of RO water to espresso applications while addressing these concerns head on. With a small physical footprint ideal for low-volume water-using equipment like espresso machines, the 75E’s proprietary high efficiency RO technology reduces the water sent to waste, which is a common objection to conventional RO systems in espresso applications.

The Everpure 75E System provides a 50 percent water savings compared to conventional RO†. Designed specifically for espresso applications, the 75E System features a blending valve to tailor mineral content for optimal taste and equipment protection against scale and corrosion. This unique system is also ideal for combination applications, such as espresso plus an ice maker, or espresso plus a hot water boiler.
