Water Filtration for Dental Equipment

Water is a light solvent and absorbs characteristics of anything it touches as it travels through the city mains and your building pipework. These contaminants can be damaging to dental equipment and create health concerns for your patients.

Water is used by many pieces of equipment on the dental chair and in the sterilisation room; any impurities such as sediment, organic matter, metals and minerals can obstruct very small orifices causing equipment malfunction and downtime. During sterilisation, impurities in the water supply can damage the instruments inducing corrosion.

We’ve developed customised water treatment systems that can be installed in a single point in your surgery and feed all your water using equipment, protecting it from damage and your patients from untreated city water.

Micro Filtration | Chair Instruments

Micro Filtration addresses any impurities such as sediment, organic matter, oxidised metals and minerals that can obstruct very small orifices causing equipment malfunction and downtime. This filtration also reduces Chlorine, organic colour, off tastes and odours that can adversely affect patient comfort and health.

De-Mineralisation | Sterilisation Equipment

During sterilisation, impurities in the water supply can damage the instruments inducing corrosion. This simple yet high quality reverse osmosis water treatment system is capable of delivering pure RO water or blended water where a small amount of mineral or conductivity bypass is required.

Everpure 7DM Twin

Twin Demineralising System

Everpure MRS-350BL

1000 Litres per day | Reverse Osmosis System for Small to Medium Dental Clinics

Everpure MRS-600HE-II

2200 Litres per day | Reverse Osmosis System for Large Dental Clinics

Demineralising filter to deliver mineral reduced water to lab and dental equipment.

Features

• Sanitary cartridge replacement is simple, quick and clean. Internal filter parts are never exposed to handling or contamination
• No power required
• Removes total dissolved solids (TDS) by using a mix of cation and anion resin

The BL Series RO Systems feature an adjustable blend valve which allows for custom tailoring of the treated water’s dissolved mineral content. With this feature, a controlled amount of raw water can be mixed with the RO water to create a blend containing the small amount TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) if this is required for equipment to “see” the water. After blending, the water passes through a submicron carbon filter. This final filtration step removes tastes and odours, and insures premium quality water.

The MRS-600HEII offers blendable Reverse Osmosis with the added benefit of high efficiency water recovery. This system can accommodate multiple pieces of equipment and should be used in a large sterilisation lab.

With the average recovery of 78%, the MRS-600HE-II system only disposes approximately 250ml of water for each litre produced. Its high recovery RO technology yields significant savings in water and sewer charges with a minimal environmental footprint.

The Water Chemistry of Dental

Turbidity

Turbidity describes the particles in the water such as dirt, silt and sand. These particles can obstruct very small orifices causing equipment malfunction and downtime. It is recommended that water for dental does not exceed a level of 0.5 NTU turbidity.

To achieve this, we recommend a filter rated at or below 1 micron.

Chlorine and Chloramine

Chlorine is corrosive to metals, especially copper tubing. Corrosion’s negative impacts on stainless steel includes pitting, crevice corrosion and even stress cracking. Chlorine, off tastes and odours can adversely affect patient comfort and health. Good quality carbon filtration will usually be sufficient to remove Chlorine. For Chloramine, seek a high quality carbon filter this is rated for Chloramine removal.

The Chlorine level for dental equipment should be less than 0.2ppm.

Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)

This is basically everything that is dissolved in the water (Hardness, Chloride etc.). Suggested levels for autoclaves is <10ppm. High levels of dissolved solids will drive scale or corrosion in your dental equipment depending on the characteristics of you water chemistry.
